Google experiments with giant banner ads – Google started experimenting with incredibly large banner advertisements that will show above search results. Similar to a Facebook cover photo, these enormous ads are being tested to see if they drive more traffic to the advertiser. As of now, the test is very limited in the U.S. and is one of many tests that Google runs with different ad formats.
Twitter now offers a tweet scheduler and allows for anyone to send DMs – Twitter recently made several updates: you can now schedule tweets through its Ads platform, and you can choose to receive direct messages from any user, even if you’re not following them. This new feature could be beneficial to brands who want to directly contact customers without having to follow them.
Apple introduces new iPad models – This past Tuesday, Apple held a press conference to announce the new iPad Mini and the iPad Air. The new devices are considerably lighter, thinner and faster, but Apple didn’t make any other significant upgrades.
Official Instagram for Windows coming soon – Windows Phone is finally getting an official app for Instagram. One of the major weaknesses of Windows Phone is its limited app offering. Now, Windows Phone users finally have Twitter and Facebook apps, and an Instagram app would “close a big hole in the Windows Phone ecosystem.”
